CMA CGM Bunker Adjustment Factor available on line

In anticipation of the expiration of the European Carrier Conferences and in order to provide greater transparency for its customers, the CMA CGM Group Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) to take effect in August 2008 on part of its lines, and specifically on all European trades, is now available on line.

The BAF is adjustable monthly, provided that the average per ton price for fuel fluctuates – up or down - by over $ 10 USD. The BAF calculation is based on:

  • - The per ton price of fuel observed over a given month (*),
  • - The average consumption of tons of fuel per container ship on a roundtrip on a specific trade, per full TEU carried.

These data will be updated on a monthly basis on CMA CGM’s web site, in the e-business section, available at:

http://www.cma-cgm.com/eBusiness/BAFFinder/Default.aspx

With this initiative, CMA CGM demonstrates its commitment to provide customers with clear pricing information and to quickly and efficiently respond to changes in the maritime environment.

*CMA CGM calculates the average price of fuel based on average fuel prices reported sby PLATTS in the 17 main bunkering ports in which CMA CGM calls.
